Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP)The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is a national professional association of pharmacists and other health care practitioners who serve society by the application of sound medication management principles and strategies to achieve positive patient outcomes. The Academy's 4,800 members develop and provide a diversified range of clinical, educational and business management services and strategies on behalf of the more than 200 million Americans covered by a managed care pharmacy benefit. The organization's vision is to promote an improved quality of life through appropriate and accessible medication therapy. AMCP's mission is to empower its members to serve society by using sound medication management principles and strategies to achieve positive patient outcomes. The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy is funded primarily through membership dues, grants from pharmaceutical industry manufacturers and the Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy, and income from conferences and educational programs. The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy has been working within the pharmacy industry for over three years to produce a universal process that can be used by any managed care organization (MCO) to assess the effectiveness and safety of any pharmaceutical product from a value and outcome perspective. Now gaining professional acceptance throughout the industry, the AMCP Format for Formulary Submissions is quickly becoming the cornerstone for pharmaceutical and therapy committee assessments.
